Thoroughbred Genetics was created in 2000 by Dr. Steve Harrison. Our vision was to utilise the power of state-of-the-art genetic technology in conjunction with an in-depth knowledge of genetics and racing to improve the effectiveness of thoroughbred breeding and performance.

With the possible exception of computer science, the pace of discovery and development within the genetics arena is unparalleled.  Genetic science is widespread in the identification and treatment of diseases.  In forensics, DNA fingerprinting has an unequivocal accuracy.  For well over a decade, routine genetic analysis has been commonly applied to agricultural animals such as sheep and cattle to enhance their genetic management and yields. Yet advances in genetics and DNA technology have largely neglected thoroughbred breeding, which is itself a genetics business.
